The “Real” Culprit Behind The 2004 Tsunami
In a recent controversial book launched in Jakarta titled “Tsunami: The Proof of Abuya, The Son of Bani Tamim”, Hatijah Aam postulated that the cataclysmic 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Aceh was the brainchild of Asaari Muhammad or affectionately known by his followers as Abuya – the leader of the Al Arqam Islamic movement.
The Business Of Polygamy
The Al Arqam movement runs polygamy clubs in Malaysia similar to the ones found in Indonesia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. In 1994, the Al Arqam movement was banned by the federal government of Malaysia as it was deemed a threat to national security. Since then, Abuya moved on to incorporate the “Global Ikhwan” – a company with major business interests in restaurants and noodle manufacturing in Malaysia. Not surprisingly, most employees of Global Ikhwan are polygamists today.
Miracles For Catastrophe
In her book, Hatijah Aam (the second wife of Abuya) asserted that Abuya had special capabilities in “lifting and flying” over sea water. Hatijah Aam claimed that, in 2004, Abuya sent a calamitous tsunami to inflict Aceh as he wanted to bring to a halt the civil war between the separatists and the Indonesian military. A family miraculously survived from the devastating tsunami because they shouted the name of Abuya, who died in Malaysia in May 2010. The Indonesian Ulama Council has urged the Indonesian central government to ban Hatijah Aam’s book.
Think About It
The proof on the pudding is in the eating – can Abuya really lift, fly over water and create tsunamis? If so, has Abuya considered that over 280,000 innocent people will have to die not just in Aceh, but in places surrounding the Indian Ocean? To halt a civil war, is there a need to make many women, widows; and children, orphans?
