Rintihan Kuntilanak Perawan (The Moans Of A Virgin Ghost)

The last time a porn actress tried to shoot a movie in Indonesia, it was a failure.  Under pressure from the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), the plan for popular Japanese porn star Miyabi to shoot a comedy movie called Menculik Miyabi (Kidnapping Miyabi) was aborted.  But this time round, the Islamic Defenders Front was caught completely unaware as porn actress Tera Patrick slipped in to Indonesia unnoticed for a movie shoot.  The movie is said to be a horror movie, and it has purportedly been approved for screening any time now by the Film Censorship Board.

Tera Patrick

34-year old Tera Patrick is an American porn actress.  Born in Great Falls, Montana she is said to be of Thai, English and Dutch descent. Tera Patrick confirmed that she was in Jakarta last August on her twitter account.  She was there to shoot the horror film called Rintihan Kuntilanak Perawan, or translated to English, The Moans of a Virgin Ghost. Co-starring with Tera Patrick in this movie are Catherine Wilson, a local actress and Angelique, the former wife of Rhoma Irama, the legendary dangdut singer. The movie is produced by KK Dheraj from K2K Production.

How easy was it for KK Dheraj to get Tera Patrick’s agreement to star in this movie?  Apparently it wasn’t easy.  It took 16 months to secure her agreement.  KK Dheraj said: “The first time she heard the offer was from Indonesia, she was scared. She refused the movie four or five times before she finally agreed.”

And why was Tera Patrick sacred?  KK Dheraj explains: “To have Tera Patrick in the movie was risky. I did the shooting secretly outside of Jakarta, ten days before the fasting month started. Twenty bodyguards were deployed to guard her from the airport to the hotel room.”

So the whole movie was shot in total secrecy, as was the visit to Jakarta by Tera Patrick.

The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI)

The movie is scheduled to be released on October 14.  The Islamic Defenders Front has promised to protest the release of this movie. Habib Salim Alatas, head of the Islamic Defenders Front in Jakarta said that he would mobilize thousands of FPI paramilitary units to demonstrate against K2K production house as well as the Film Censorship Board.

Clearly frustrated at not knowing of Tera Patrick’s visit to Indonesia, Habib Salim Alatas said: “Nobody told us that the actress had already come and shot the movie in Indonesia.” Then referring to KK Dheraj, Habib Salim Alatas said: “The movie producers have been so underhand. It makes us stressed. They are smarter this time, they did not leak anything about the movie on the Internet or on Twitter.”

Then sounding a warning, Habib Salim Alatas said: “We will not stand still.  The next time a porn film star lands at Soekarno Hatta airport, we will block them.”  Habib Salim Atlatas added that the FPI would reject any porn actresses coming to Indonesia.

Think About It

Is this horror movie, Rintihan Kuntilanak Perawan, actually an adult movie?  Going by association with porn actress Tera Patrick as the leading lady, the implication is that there must be some adult content. But then this movie has purportedly been cleared by the Film Censorship Board for screening.  When Amit Virmani shot a documentary in Bali called Cowboys in Paradise recently, there were widespread condemnation and official action against him.  So if Rintihan Kuntilanak Perawan is an adult movie, why did the Film Censorship Board pass it?  If it is not an adult movie, then why the need to have a porn star as its leading lady? On a wider front, does the Islamic Defenders Front has the legal right to block anyone from entering Indonesia if the Indonesian immigration officers have no problem admitting them into the country?
