Mosab Hassan Yousef – Apostate Traitor Son Of Hamas

What can be said of 32-year old Mosab Hassan Yousef?  He is the eldest son of Muslim cleric Sheik Hassan Yousef, one of the founders of Hamas.  Or rather he was the eldest son, since Sheik Hassan Yousef has disowned Mosab Hassan Yousef for becoming a traitor and an apostate.  And now he has published a book called Son of Hamas and he has given a series of interviews on how and why he became a traitor and an apostate.

Sheik Hassan Yousef, currently serving a 6-year prison term in an Israeli jail, issued a statement last week to disown ”the one who was once our eldest son, who is called Mosab” who “disbelieved in God” and “collaborated with our enemies.”

Below are some excerpts from his various interviews and book.

On Hamas

Mosab Hassan Yousef said:  “Hamas started out as an idea. Let’s say a noble idea—resisting occupation.” Then he added: “Most people heard about Hamas after Hamas started carrying out terrorist attacks.”

In 1996 Mosab Hassan Yousef was thrown into the Megiddo prison following his arrest by the Israelis when he was buying weapons for Hamas.  Describing his encounter with Hamas, Mosab Hassan Yousef wrote of his experience at the Megiddo prison: “Every day, there was screaming; every night, torture. Hamas was torturing its own people!”

Then referring to the Muslims from the security wing of Hamas who were inside the Megiddo prison doing the torture, Mosab Hassan Yousef said that they ”bore no resemblance to my father” and “were mean and petty, bigots and hypocrites.”

On Being A Traitor

Mosab Hassan Yousef said: “I absolutely know that in anybody’s eyes I was a traitor. To my family, to my nation, to my God. I crossed all the red lines in my society. I didn’t leave one that I didn’t cross.”

Mosab Hassan Yousef betrayed his nation when he agreed to be a spy for Israel.  Shin Bet, the Israeli spy agency approached Mosab Hassan Yousef to be a spy when he was in prison. Mosab Hassan Yousef explained:  ”After I was tortured by Shin Bet, I was transferred to prison where Hamas tortured Hamas members and I became confused who was really my enemy.  I accepted to meet Shin Bet.”

When he agreed to be a spy for Shin Bet, he was granted early release from prison.  But for the next 10 years, he was not activated although he did receive money from Shin Bet.  His code name given by Shin Bet was Green Prince, a fitting description of his princely and Islamic status.

He was finally activated during the second Intifada in September 2000. Mosab Hassan Yousef said: “At the age of twenty-two, I became the Shin Bet’s only Hamas insider who could infiltrate Hamas’s military and political wings, as well as other Palestinian factions.”

Was this something easy for him to do?  Mosab Hassan Yousef said: “Simply my enemies of yesterday became my friends. And the friends of yesterday became really my enemies.”

He left Shin Bet in 2006.

On Being Apostate

Mosab Hassan Yousef described how he became a Muslim apostate.  He wrote about his encounter with a British taxi driver in Jerusalem who gave him an English-Arabic New Testament.  Mosab Hassan Yousef was invited to attend a bible study session.  He described what happened at the session: “I found that I was really drawn to the grace, love and humility that Jesus talked about.”  And so, Mosab Hassan Yousef secretly converted, not to Judaism but to Christianity.

Mosab Hassan Yousef explains: “I converted to Christianity because I was convinced by Jesus Christ as a character, as a personality. I loved him, his wisdom, his love, his unconditional love. I didn’t leave the Islamic religion to put myself in another box of religion. At the same time it’s a beautiful thing to see my God exist in my life and see the change in my life. I see that when he does exist in other Middle Easterners there will be a change.”

Then he added: “I’m not trying to convert the entire nation of Israel and the entire nation of Palestine to Christianity. But at least if you can educate them about the ideology of love, the ideology of forgiveness, the ideology of grace. Those principles are great regardless, but we can’t deny they came from Christianity as well.”

On Islam

Mosab Hassan Yousef has written or uttered some of his most harsh comments about Islam.  These comments have angered Muslims, and his life is probably under threat.

On August 21, 2008 following news of Mosab Hassan Yousef’s conversion to Christianity, the al-Qaeda affliated Global Islamic Media Front released a statement which said, inter-alia, “If he comes back to Islam great, but if he does not, his fate is as an infidel without honor. The prophet Muhammad said, ‘Whoever alters his religion, kill him.’ He should not have proper burial rights and he should not be buried with Muslims.”  Although this is strictly speaking not a fatwa, it is nevertheless a threat.

So what caused Muslims to be upset with Mosab Hassan Yousef?  Consider some of his comments on Islam.  Mosab Hassan Yousef said: “It is not a religion of peace. The biggest terrorist is the God of the Quran. I know this is very dangerous and this will offend many people. The more you follow the steps of the prophet of Islam and the God of Islam, the more you get close to being a terrorist.”

When asked if his father is a fanatic, Mosab Hassan Yousef said: What matters is not whether my father is a fanatic or not, he’s doing the will of a fanatic God. It doesn’t matter if he’s a terrorist or a traditional Muslim. At the end of the day a traditional Muslim is doing the will of a fanatic, fundamentalist, terrorist God. I know this is harsh to say. Most governments avoid this subject. They don’t want to admit this is an ideological war.”

Then Mosab Hassan Yousef added: “The problem is not in Muslims. The problem is with their God. They need to be liberated from their God. He is their biggest enemy. It has been 1,400 years they have been lied to.”

Elaborating further, Mosab Hassan Yousef said: ” Muslims are good people. But their God is absolutely bad.”

Those are dangerous words that invite a fatwa against him.  Isn’t he afraid of being killed?  Mosab Hassan Yousef said: “To be honest with you, being killed is not the worst thing that can happen. If they want to do kill me, let them do it, and they will be responsible for my blood.”

Think about it.  What did Mosab Hassan Yousef hope to achieve by publishing his book, Son of Hamas?  He did say: ”A change will happen for the next generation.” But is that the only motive?  And why did he attack Islam so harshly?

Hey there, I do not believe Mosab is saying that he hates Palestinian or Muslim people(while it may be possible that he does hate hamas because of what they stand for, not the people in it), he is getting across that he hates their ideology, as he states in this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6EYKoScRjk

i love the courage of mosab.he has really found the truth.what he said was not hatred but exposing the lies and danger of what he left behind.

Mosab I listened to some more of your lies about Islam,I noticed one thing in common ,you are trying to convince yourself of how ugly Islam is very hard, yet the harder you lie, the more distant it becomes. I truely hope you find peace with yourself

  • abdul a

you always talk about ( love your enemy,)yet you have nothing but insults to say about islam and Allah, if you truely have Jesus christ in your heart, you would know
that following Jesus Christ is loving all people,I hope one day you find peace with yourself, and your Lord,
my advise to you, TRY TO PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!!!!!

Hi Abdul a, please don’t be confused about love. Mosab is talking the TRUTH – and that is love, regardless whether it offend or not. Even Jesus offended, the Pharisees, Sadducees and many jews and people. He loved them so much that even in the face of persecution (…and death) He still continued talking the truth. You see Abdul a, it is not “being nice” that will save your soul-it is the truth tha will!

I think driving Mosab and giving him incredible courage, is his understanding of God’s great mercy and His unspeakable gift of His son for us. Simply put, he is in love with Jesus. Nothing else really matters for him.

as well as disagreeing with israely policies too.

as a true Christian, he wants peace.
