There is this joke about marriage:
In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens.
In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens.
In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.
For many people marriage goes through this three stages. But that is not what it is meant to be. God first instituted marriage at the Garden of Eden and meant husband and wife to be a beautiful partnership and life long relationship
Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
