Manohara To Ignore Syariah Court Order To Be Loyal To Husband

Now that the Syariah High Court in the Malaysia state of Kelantan has ordered runaway Indonesia teenage model Manohara Odelia Pinot to “be loyal” to her husband  Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Sultan Ismail Petra, will she obey and in effect return to him?  Or will Manohara Odelia Pinot be disloyal, rebellious or treacherous and thus be declared a “nusyuz” wife? Well she seems set to ignore the Syariah High Court order.

Daisy Fajarina, mother of Manohara Odelia Pinot said that her daughter would not return to her husband. She said in a phone interview with the New Straits TImes: “Manohara is a human being and she has a right to say ‘No’”. 

Referring to the court case, Daisy Fajarina said: “In order to win her case, Manohara has to return to Malaysia and that is something which she will not do. She would rather lose the case than return to Malaysia. But we are still in discussions with lawyers on how to fight the case.”

But why wouldn’t Manohara Odelia Pinot return to her husband?  Daisy Fajarina attributed this to her mistreatment by her husband during their marriage. Elaborating she said that Manohara Odelia Pinot “couldn’t have a mobile phone. She was not even allowed to make or receive phone calls from her family.”  She added that Manohara Odelia Pinot is still traumatized by her husband’s mistreatment.

Then putting a new and positive twist to the meaning of the “be loyal” order by the Syariah High Court, Daisy Fajarina said: ”I take it as a compliment that the court ordered Manohara to return to her husband despite all the bad things he has said about her. That means she is not a bad person. If someone is bad, would you want her back?”

But what about the order by the same Syariah High Court for Manohara Odelia Pinot to return Rm 1,112,250 (approximately US$327,000) owed to him? Daisy Fajarina said: “Our lawyers said not to worry about it.”  She has been advised that the order by the Syariah High Court is enforceable only in Malaysia.

But what has Manohara Odelia Pinot been doing since running away from her husband?  Well the teenage model has now embarked on a new career.  She has received many acting offers and so she has now become the teenage actress, starring in a 67-episode soap opera the storyline of which has nothing to do with her life story. 

Manohara Odelia Pinot has also started another new career as a columnist for the English language daily, The Jakarta Globe.

Having demonstrated her ability to be financially independent, Manohara Odelia Pinot is set to ignore the “be loyal” ruling by the Syariah High Court in Malaysia.  But the threat of financial ruin is there should the order to repay the money by Manohara Odelia Pinot to her husband is enforced in Indonesia. Moreover, her husband has last month won a default judgment against Manohara Odelia Pinot and Daisy Fajarina for defaming him.  He is seeking compensation of Rm 105 million (approximate US$30.8 million) but the court has not determined the amount of compensation yet.
