Talk about a good ending, and it seems John Terry managed to kiss and make up with wife Toni Poole in Dubai over the Valentine’s Day weekend.
Eversince news of John Terry’s infidelity broke out, Toni has taken her twin children off to Dubai. Just 2 weeks back, Toni Poole was quoted in the press as saying: ”He’s humiliated me for 10 years. But no more. This time I’m going to divorce him.”
This was in the aftermath of the news that John Terry, then captain of England soccer team and captain of Chelsea FC had an affair with Vanessa Perroncel, girlfriend of Wayne Bridge. Toni Poole considered Vanessa Perroncel a close friend, just as Wayne Bridge considered John Terry, former colleagues at Chelsea and close neighbour, his best friend.
John Terry has since lost his England captaincy, but retains his Chelsea captaincy. He took compassionate leave of absence from Chelsea to visit his wife Toni Poole in Dubai in an effort to save his marriage.
In Dubai, John Terry poured out his charms and it looks like he managed to get Toni Poole to forgive him and to start afresh. They spent Valentine’s Day together.
The way the marriage was saved surprised many. One observer said: ”I don’t know what sort of line John Terry has been spinning but it looks like his missus has swallowed it. Where’s the catch?”
A guest at the hotel said: It’s amazing how it all seems forgotten so quickly. John must have something special. Toni’s been all over him like a rash. She looked so miserable when she first arrived in Dubai. Watching the pair fool around the pool, it’s difficult to believe it’s the same woman.”
Is it any wonder then that another guest opined: “What does that man have to do to upset his wife? He’s cheated on her and she’s welcomed him back with open arms. She must be the most forgiving woman on the planet.”
What did John Terry has to say about the result of his charm offensive? He said: “My family is important to me. I have always felt that. We’re moving forward. We’re strong as a couple – it’s incredible. I promise you. We’re best mates. We have so much fun together. We’re husband and wife. We do some amazing stuff together. We’ve got two great kids. It’s just about us four and the love we have for each other is incredible. As strong as the day we first locked eyes on each other.”
But what did John Terry say to Toni Poole to get her forgiveness? John Terry is not telling. He said: “What me and Toni speak about, no one will ever know. No one will ever get close to knowing how our life is. We are private people. We know how we feel about each other and that’s the main thing. Our relationship has never been knocked down. We’re just so in love. We’ve never been stronger.”
And what did Toni Poole has to say about this? She said: “We’re very strong as a couple – always have been. John came over to see me and the kids and enjoy a few days in the hot weather. While all this is going on, it’s just nice to be together.”
How did John Terry do it? Well, like any lover boy, he spent Valentine’s Day with Toni at a water park where John Terry got down on one knee and asked Toni Poole to marry him again. And of course, she said yes. Now they are said to be planning to renew their marriage vows soon.
Was Toni Poole pleased? She said: “I’m really, really happy. We’re having the best time ever. I knew that John was planning something special and this has been the best.’’
Added John Terry: “When we’re together we’re always like this. We’re soulmates. We have so much fun. We’ve not spent enough time like this recently. But when we’re together nothing can touch us.’’
But what would really seal this restored relationship? Toni Poole reportedly told a friend: “A third child will bring so much joy into our lives. We are both really excited about our future.” Toni Poole thinks that John Terry is a great father who dotes on the children.
The restored relationship is best summarized by Toni’s friend this way: “Toni has agreed to forget the past and look to the future – and John has promised to make her the happiest woman in the world. When they get back home they are going to get back into their old routine. At the moment they have no plans to move.”
Think about it. Toni Poole must have been a very forgiving woman. But forgiveness assumes that one party has wronged another party and has owned up and asked for forgiveness. However a fortnight ago, John Terry was denying any affair with Vanessa Perroncel to Toni Poole. So did John Terry finally come clean with Toni Poole? We will never know, because John Terry said: “What me and Toni speak about, no one will ever know.”
