Everybody who owns an iPhone, it seems, is trying to download the latest update software , the iPhone OS 3.0, to make his iPhone a better one. The latest update promises a slew of extra features. But the sheer volume of iPhone owners rushing to download the update has caused the iPhone activation server to be “temporarily unavailable”. In other words, it simply crashed. As a result, no one could communicate with the server.
In today’s world, communication is very important. So if a server is down, you are technically offline. No access to the internet, to cyberspace. A transponder in a communication satellite goes down, and communication is again cut. An undersea communication cable gets damaged, and communication is out.
Way before the discovery of raido waves, God posed this question to Job: Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you, ‘Here we are!’? (Job 38:35).
The verse talks of lightning bolts – that is, electricity – that can be used to send speech. Now since God provides us with a means to communicate with one another, does He not also provide us with a means to communicate with Him?
Sure, He does! It is called prayer. And the good thing is that between God and His people, this communication channel is never broken – there is no server downtime problem. See what the Bible has to say on this:
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know (Jer 33:3).
