Hit by a Meteorite

What is the probability of someone on earth being hit by a meteorite?  Well, I don’t know, but it was reported to be one in a million chances.  An impossible possibility?

Consider this.  A 14 year old teenager called Gerrit Blank actually survived such an incident.  That one in a million chances did strike and find its target in this teenager.  He has a 3-inch long scar in his hand to prove it.  He was hit by a meteorite traveling at 30,000 mph or 48,280 kph.

The size of this meteorite was described as pea size.  This meteorite strike was accompanied by sights that shocked and awed – lightning, thunder, etc.

The Bible tells of the story of David and Goliath.  David won a great victory with a single slingshot; the smooth stone left the sling and flew in a trajectory that hit Goliath between his eyes.

What are the chances of David achieving this success?  Again human speaking, I don’t know, but it must been an enormously long odds. But David won.

Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth (1Sam 17:49).

Goliath died after being hit by a slingshot.  This is not an accidental event.  God is in control at all times.

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you (1Sam 17:45-46a).

Aren’t you glad that God is in control?  He can guide the path of the trajectory of that slingshot from David all the way to Goliath’s vulnerable point.  Surely He can guide your path, if you truly seek Him.  And the interesting thing is that He is not far away for those who truly seek Him.

The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth (Ps 145:18).
