The internet is full of mischievous pranksters and false information. Some prankster and rivals often use the internet to proliferate their tall tales of woe and danger.
Some of these email hoaxes such as teaching people to cough to stop a heart attack could prove to be fatal.
We should verify the information even if it was sent by a friend before redistributing it. We should be sensible and not BUY INTO IT blindly without using our common sense.
The following are some tips which can help you spot a hoax:
1. Be sceptical if the content was not written by someone who sent it to you.
2. Look for tell warning telltale statements and phrases such as:
· “Forward this to everyone you know.’
· ‘This is NOT a hoax’
3. Look for frequent use of UPPERCASE LETTERS and multiple exclamation points!!!!!!!
4. Be suspicious if the message tries to persuade rather than to inform.
5. Be suspicious if the message claims to give you extremely important information that you’ve never heard of before or seen elsewhere in legitimate sites.
6. Does the message violate common sense?
7. Hoaxes will not typically name any, nor link to web sites with corroborating information.
8. Confirm this with information from legitimate institutional web sites.
9. Be suspicious if it looks like a warning or alerts rather than personal anecdotes.
On a similar vein, we often read in the newspaper about reports of evolutionists discovering skeletons of some animals or dinosaurs and claiming that they are a few millions years old. Some even went to the extent of saying these skeletons are billions of years old.
I have a very powerful calculator and it can only calculate up to numerical with 6 zeros at the back. People during Charles Darwin time do not have powerful calculators or even computers like what we have today. It defies my commonsense to imagine how they can calculate the age of a skeleton and claim that it is between a million to billion of years old.
One evolutionist would present a paper and claim that a certain set of newly dug skeleton is a billion years old. Before you know it another one will come out and claim that it is a few billion years old. They seem to think that the difference between one billion or a few billion years is insignificant.
Do these evolutionists know how big a billion is?
What is the earliest recorded history of mankind? I think if we look at both the Middle East and the Oriental history, the longest I have ever discovered is less than 6000 years.
But the evolutionists would claim that we evolved from apes and perhaps apes could not write or carve on stones. Perhaps our language or writing skill was acquired much later.
But this is not what I see. I am born in the sixties and within four decades, I saw technology advancing at a “supersonic” speed. We did not have TV before I was born. My family acquired a black and white TV when I was a child. Before I knew it, we switch to watching TV. I first saw the punch cards used by the early gigantic computers in the seventies. Now we are looking computers which can run on 64 bits architecture and terabytes of hard disk spaces.
Look at how aeroplanes and the locomotives were invented. Look at how fast Singapore turned from a small fishing village to a modern city with sky scrappers and extensive transport system within a matter of 40 years.
I simply cannot imagine that it took mankind billions of years to evolve to where we are.
Are evolutionists advancing a greatest hoax of all? I don’t buy into their stories that my great great great…. great…g reat grand father is a monkey.
Is easier for me to believe that the earth is less than 6000 years old because the entire human’s (minus ape’s records) records seem to appear that way.
Evolution is a joke. I don’t buy it. And I also cannot believe the Big Bang that we came out of no where in some cosmos event in the universe.
My sophisticated laptop is designed by a team of very intelligent software and hardware engineers. The Boeing 747 could not have been formed suddenly from some accidental event. It was designed by some intelligent engineers and scientists.
I find it much easier to believe that human beings which is even more intelligent than computers is designed by a Creator who is far mightier than we are.
Believing in a hoax such as evolution is tantamount to believing that my Acer Aspire 5920G laptop (with 2.0 GHz processor, 4 Gig RAM and 300Gig Harddisk) evolved from an abacus.
We should not forward silly hoax sent to us by email to others. People who act on these hoaxes may get their lives endangered. We should also stop perpetrating these evolutionists’ hoax that our grand parents are apes.
