Australians Keep Faith With Crocodile Harry Ahead Of General Election

In Crocodile Harry They Trust

On the eve of the Australian general election, an  Australian crocodile is trying his luck to become famous by picking the winner of this year’s general election à la Octopus Paul.

About Crocodile Harry

Crocodile Harry is a 720 kg,  5m (16 ft) saltwater crocodile, residng in the wildlife park in Darwin, Australia.  Almost no one outside of Australia has heard of Crocodile Harry.  But Crocodile Harry is said to possess psychic powers  à la Octopus Paul.

Like Octopus Paul, who had a 100% accuracy record in picking winners of football matches at the recently concluded 2010 FIFA World Cup competition in South Africa, Crocodile Harry is said to have predicted correctly that Spain would win the World Cup.

Now Crocodile Harry is to pick the winner of this year’s general election.

Crocodile Harry’s Method

Octopus Paul picked his winners by entering the glass cubes with the winner’s flag to eat a mussel.  But Crocodile Harry has a different method to pick winners.  Two chickens of equal weight were dangled over Crocodile Harry’s enclosure. One chicken had the photograph of Julia Gillard, and the other the photograph of Tony Abbott.  Whoever is on the photo of the chicken Crocodile Harry that chooses to eat will be the winner.

Now Crocodile Harry has made his prediction.  Crocodile Harry chose the chicken bearing the photograph of Julia Gillard, signifying his choice of the winner for this coming general election.

Octopus Cassandra

Meanwhile, let’s not forget that Octopus Cassandra, who resides in the Sydney Institute of Marine Science has also earlier predicted that incumbent premier Julia Gillard will triumph over his rival Tony Abbott in this year’s general election.

Think About It

Why are people so interested in the unknown?  Do these creatures, whether octopus or crocodile, really have the psychic power to predict the future?  If not, why even bother with them?
