What is the world coming to? Have you ever wondered what kind of world we are living in? I just came across a Jakarta Globe report that is quite shocking, and may be indicative of an upside down world that we are in now.
Drugs smugglers have now employed a new way to smugger illicit drugs across national borders. Indonesian police have arrested a man and his mother-in-law for trying to smuggle heroin from Cambodia into the country. Nothing special about this report? Well, yes, except that the smugglers used a new and innovative way to smuggle heroin in. The drug was smuggled inside a Koran, and delivered via DHL, the courier company. Altogether, 60 gms of heroin were inside the front and back cover of a Koran.
Think about it. Why do people want to smuggle illicit drugs? There must be big money involved. In certain countries, you get the death penalty if you are caught with banned drugs above a certain amount. Why take the risks to smuggle in the drugs? The answer obviously is that there is a demand for these drugs. But why? Drugs like heroin can be addictive and destructive. And for the smugglers, don’t they have any respect for others? Why use the Koran to smuggle? We must be living in an upside down world.
